Looks like we can discuss the beta publicly as ea have a public forum setup about it and there is no terms or anything like that.

Well so far I've got 2 games in before all the day 1 bugs came out. As far as I'm aware the play now button is working but no server browser, I don't think they've fixed the lag so I'm going to wait till tomorrow to play again.

First impressions: I thought it was a bit laggy from a server company I usually get great pings at but we know why that is now. I can't really comment on the hit detection, it's better than BF2 for sure but I can't really say until I've had a lag free game, there was the odd time playing and watching MI7 that it looked a bit weird. I like the pace more than BF2, more going on and lots of explosions a bit more like Call Of Duty. Game graphics looks fine to me, I have to play it on medium. It pretty much plays like a Battlefield game which is what I wanted it to do, why change something that everybody loves?

Negatives were the vehicle sensitivity, the brief time I spent in one I found it really difficult to move about, I'm sure they will fix that. Big things that I'm not sure will be fixed are that it has the old BF2 running style which feels quite alien now, I instantly missed the COD style, I'll have to get used to it, fingers crossed they will see the light and change it. Another pain was the HUD, I felt like the guns are too big for the screen, the RPG almost covers it all.

Apart from that I think it's got amazing potential and the first thing that entered my mind was I can't wait to get some good squad gameplay going in this.

I don't like that the knife isn't a selectable weapon. I also don't like that I can't lay down.

I can't say much when I played it on pc. It can barely handle it on low settings. All I managed to do was die 3 times and have small talk to other guys on the server about how slow it was.

It's only the beta so I'm hoping that there will be more options/settings available. For instance, adjustable HUD, cross-air color customizing, just some other various options in the other BFs. Because there is the new hardcore mode I fear that those things can't be changed.

I agree that the weapons look too big on the hud.

Aside from the negativity, it is fun. I love the A-10's that fly overhead, the scenery, and the overall atmosphere. I think it would've been better if it was conquest instead of rush game mode though.

Those are my first impressions.

Yeah I agree with you on everything, they must be added!!!!! Reading the forums everyone seems to be saying the same thing as us, hopefully they will take note and make some changes.

They have said the beta will lack some features, I know the server browser will be a lot better in the final release, maybe some other interface things will be too.

well ok my initial impressions ....
i dont like that the "friend" system doesnt work
i also dont like that the "play now" button is so totally random .. often puting me on servers in russia or uk were it lags...
i dont like that u cant see what server u are on once ur in it ... only on the loading screen... also i dont like that u cant see what ping u and everyone else is getting...

the thing i noticed and like the most was the destructible terrain ...trees..buildings.. etc... i like that u can shoot people thru wooden fences...

the game plays smooth for me even on high.

ok well i have now played both beta on PC and on Xbox for me PC wasn't the best due to the amont of lag that was going and prob my pc just being old

i hope they do make little change when come the real game as someone said before i don't like that you can't have your knife out and that is is like COD where it is just one stab i do like it better on XBOX do to how clean and smooth it runs.

I'm sure they will make lots of changes, I don't know why they've left it so late, the PS3 beta was months a go and has given them lot's of time to fix everything but it wouldn't be out of the normal for them to have a patch for the PC within the first couple days of retail release.

I had a break from the game cus I was busy the past week or so. I started playing again yesterday and I gotta say I'm not liking the way this game is turning out now. The weapons are extremely weak which means nobodys using them! It's all grenades and nub tubs. I hate to bring up hit detection but this game just like Battlefield 2 has horrible hit detection, can't believe they can't get it right.

I hope it's a bit more balanced in the retail. The most annoying thing is the lack of team effort, I hope we can all get playing, the lack of a friends list isn't helping anybody.

I'm not a huge fan of the map myself, can't really get into it. That doesn't mean I'm not still looking forward to release a lot, though. I'm hoping the downfalls that it has now, like the hit detection you mentioned or the bullet power will be tweaked to better standards come release. Right now when I play I'm usually noob tubing people trying to use massive amounts of c4 on their quads to blow up the objectives.

The one time I had a pretty decent pilot in the Apache as I was gunner was extremely satisfying. Also, the game's graphics and sounds are really good as I expected, so long as I'm on a decent server without a lot of lag. Looking forward to playing the other maps as well, the snow on the beta map kind of fogs everything up, so I would enjoy some more crisp looking graphics in some clear skies :P
